The milk producers of Cochabamba and La Paz declared an emergency and rejected the proposal to implement a mobile wallet for the prenatal and breastfeeding subsidy, as the beneficiaries have been demanding.Yesterday a march was held in Cochabamba and in La Paz they warned with demonstrations."The milk producers of the department of Cochabamba, through their representatives, express our resounding rejection regarding the possible applicability of a mobile wallet for the acquisition of prenatal, breastfeeding and universal prenatal subsidies for life", reads in a statement issued by this sector. On the other hand, last Wednesday, the executive of the Departmental Federation of Dairy Producers of La Paz (Fedelpaz), Nelson Pocahuanca, reported that the sector declared an emergency and an expanded departmental meeting will be held over the weekend to determine mobilizations. In addition, they will summon other productive sectors that provide the Service for the Development of Public Productive Companies (Sedem) for the subsidy package in order to make their claim prevail. In recent weeks, the request from mothers has intensified to implement the mobile wallet that will allow them to acquire the products that they consider necessary for their food and their needs. This occurred after complaints of alleged overpricing, mistreatment and other irregularities in the distribution of the subsidy by Sedem. The Government ruled out the application of a mobile wallet and, on the contrary, cut the cash subsidy for military wives. This action was criticized by the military sector through anonymous letters and statements by retired soldiers.Other providers of the subsidy expressed their opposition to cutting this benefit in kind.More in Country
